Sometimes the best foods need no recipe at all. I'm a big believer that fruit is at its best when it is ripe and left to shine on its own. Granted, there are some amazing recipes out there that you can use with fresh fruit. However, I still believe that there is nothing better than freshly picked fruit, washed, and cut up, then eaten as is. It's like Nature's Candy! Luckily for fruit lovers like me, there's an abundance of tasty fruit available in the summer months. Cantaloupe, for example, has just come into season, and I was able to pick up a fresh melon at a local farm the other day. You know you've picked a great melon when you slice it open and you can immediately smell its sweet aroma. |
Sweetness is not the only thing you can get from a freshly cut cantaloupe melon. Click the title of this post or the "read more" link to find out what makes the cantaloupe an amazing fruit.

But perhaps the best reason for eating more locally grown, in-season foods is that it can help to encourage you to eat foods you normally would not. For me, that includes coleslaw.

I started this blog after deciding to give up on fad diets, listening to “experts,” counting calories,
measuring, logging, depriving, bingeing, and feeling guilty. All of that only served to make me
bigger, unhealthier, and unhappy. I finally decided to keep it simple: listen to my
own body and eat real food. I
started cooking with ingredients as close to nature as possible and one year later I
feel healthier and happier. I love food and I love cooking it. This blog is an ongoing collection of my new
and favorite recipes. Some, I’ve made
up, but most are inspired by what I see online. Feel free to browse, follow, and leave a
comment! Thanks for reading! Follow Me on Pinterest!
