I'm constantly searching the web for real food recipes, inspiration and daily tips. Here are some of my favourite websites and the blogs that I follow, as well as some of the books that I've read. I would recommend any of them. If you have a website you think I'd be interested, or a blog that you'd like me to follow, please let me know by leaving a comment on the form below.
A blog about cutting out processed foods. This mom documented her family's journey in cutting out all processed foods for 100 days in a row! Includes great tips, delicious recipes, and lots of motivation! This blog was really helpful to me when I decided to make the switch to eating less processed, more natural foods, and I still use it a lot for recipe inspiration.

Written by Michael Pollan, this book offers a very simple message: Eat food, not too much, not too little, mostly plants. He goes through the history of the industrialization of food, and offers an insightful view of our relationship with food. Ever wonder how the "Western World," (namely The US and Canada) are the most nutritionally obsessed but at the same time the unhealthiest people in the world? Read this book. Some flowery language at times, but good points.

Written by Edward C. Smith, this book is a MUST for anyone who is interested in growing any of their own vegetables. Trust me, if I can do it, ANYONE can. The best thing about this book is that it's geared toward people without a lot of space. You can grow a surprising amount of your own food even if all you have is a tiny patio or balcony. This book covers everything from choosing containers, to soil prep, to the basics of all vegetables you'd want to grow. It's written in easy-to-understand language with plenty of colourful pictures and plans. MUST READ!

The best way to ensure quality of your food supply is to eat local (and organic) whenever possible. Eating local also invariably means eating what's in season. Here's a handy guide from Foodland Ontario's website showing what fruits and vegetables are in season according to every month in the year. Explore the site and you'll also find great recipes!

I just discovered this blog and I love it. It's quickly becoming one of my favourites to read. The author is a health researcher and she offers a lot of great insight. But I really appreciate her no-nonsense approach and her tendency to scoff at the "rules." Eating shouldn't be too complicated, and she does a really good (humourous) job of simplifying things for us. MUST READ!

Both documentaries "Food Matters" and "Hungry for Change" are produced by the same people and are both worth a watch. Check out my post about them HERE.
