I was exhausted out of pure boredom! Deep down, I knew it. So I wasn't okay with lying on the couch and doing a whole lot more of nothing. I flipped through the channels a few times on the t.v, realized there was nothing on that would convince me to stay curled up on the couch, and knew I had to drag myself up and DO something!
So I strapped on my running shoes and hopped up on the treadmill. I bargained with myself that I didn't have to work hard. I could simply walk, at a nice, easy pace. Just enough to get the blood pumping, and that was exactly how I started out. But then sure enough, about 10 minutes in, I picked up my pace into a jog, and eventually went out into a full sprint! Eventually I couldn't keep it up any longer, so I slowed my pace down back to a cool-down walk. After 30 minutes, my body felt energetic! Blood was flowing, and I no longer thought about curling up on the couch. In fact, that was the last thing I wanted to do. I ended up doing a couple loads of laundry, showered, made a healthy light lunch (check out the pictures), and then headed out to visit my family and relatives. What a better way to spend my Saturday than curled up on the couch bored and falling asleep! Sometimes that's okay too. But I want to feel like I've earned that nap, and that I'm not just doing it because I have nothing better to do. To celebrate the choice of being active rather than passive, I made a really healthy, light, nutritious lunch. I mixed some fat-free Greek vanilla yogurt, all-natural hemp and flax granola, raspberries and banana. It was the perfect post-workout snack! Check it out below. Take care, S~ |
